WELCOME to your Summer Southest Asia History Class. This course will be a compressed course for 20 days or 4 weeks, and there will be 6 sessions each day (120 sessions x 50 minutes). Please follow precisely the schedule, requriements and guidelines to successfully complete the course.
Please visit this website for all your resources and information. This website has been built on HTML 5 to support your mobile devices, therefore you can view this site on your iPhone, iPad and of course on your desktop computer/laptop.
In this class, you will need to bring a laptop everyday to be used in the class. You must have few preinstalled apps like MS Word, PowerPoint, & Adobe Acrobat. There will be power ports for every student and wifi. Please make sure you register your device with the school IT to be able to use the wifi service.

COURSE OUTLINE & DESCRIPTION:
This course is the study of the eleven Southeast Asian countries starting from the pre-colonial days to colonial, WWII, post-colonial, independence to modern day. The course will include the study of history, geography, ethnicity, cuisine, trade, religious, economical and political status of the nations in relation to how each of these components played a vital role in shaping the country.
The Eleven countries that will be discussed in this course are: Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, East Timor & The Philippines.

COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
Every student is required to bring a Laptop to class everyday. The classroom will provide with power outlet for each station. Students are encouraged to set up the EIS Wi-Fi on their device before the class begins in summer. Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel) will be needed for all classwork including Adobe Reader, and Google Chrome. All classwork must be submitted via Schoology and on-time. Late work will receive less points or no points at all.
There will be total eight (8) written tests. The tests will reflect from the eBooks which can be downloaded from the Course Website (http://seah.eis.ac.th).

SUMMER POLICY:
Attend class daily and on time (3 tardies are counted as 1 absent)
Follow the daily schedule precisely - return from breaks on-time.
You are to be in class for the full amount of instruction time.
During the summer session, a day of classes is equivalent to a week during the regular school year. Therefore it is important that you attend all classes faithfully.
If a student has more than 2 absences, either excused or unexcused, they will receive no credit (See FAQ on page 8).
Please see the time frame for the attendance and follow this closely:
7:00 AM Flag Ceremony (Students line up in front of their classrooms)
7:10 - 7:30 AM Tardy (3 tardies = 1 absent)

CITIZENSHIP:Follow the school regulations. Please note that attendance and citizenship are left to the discretion of the teacher based upon school regulations.
WORSHIP:Attend worship everyday. Worship is a part of the curriculum. We spend the first 10 minutes of each day for worship (7:05-7:15).
DISCIPLINE & BEHAVIOR:Proper behavior is expected from all students at all time. Please respect each others properties. Cheating is a crime, offenders will not receive any credit for this course. Use your PC to do your work (not on social media or games).
STUDENT DRESS CODE:As an EIS student, you should wear EIS uniforms to school everyday. Please do not come to class with PE uniform; wear the proper EIS school uniform. If you are a new student, please wear either EIS uniform or that of your former school. You are required to wear closed, not open toed shoes while in class or school.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
ATTENDANCE
How many times am I allowed to be absent during summer school? Max 2 absenses allowed during summer school of 4 weeks or 20 days.
What will happen if I am sick or absent for more than 2 days? You will not receive any credit for the course (no refund of your tuiton money either).
Does tardy count during summer? Yes. If you come to class before 7:45 am (but after 7 am) you are marked tardy but if you come after 7:45 am you may be marked absent. 3 tardies = 1 absence. Tardies are also counted after each break.
What about the break times? Two official break times for you to eat and use the toilet. But between each sessions there will be short 2 minutes toilet break. Please keep track of your breaks and time.
LAPTOP
Do I need to bring my laptop everyday? Yes, laptops are needed everyday but not the entire time. There will be time for tests, group activities, video documentary, presentation, etc. during this time you will not need the computer.
Should I bring Macbook or Windows? It does not matter, as long you have the MS Office and Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer.
Do I need to bring extension cord for the power supply? Not needed, every chair in the classroom has a power access point.
Will there be internet access? Yes, you will need Internet to do research. Make sure your computer is registered with the school WIFI.
Will there be special desk or chair for the laptop? Unfortunately NO, you have to manage your laptop or netbook on our regular chair.
COURSE/LESSON
Will there be tests everyday? At least every other day or when we finish learning one country (or total 8 tests).
Will there be presentations? Yes, informal and formal presentation but in a relaxed manner.
Will there be exams? Yes, there will be mid-term and final exams for your transcript’s sake.
WORSHIP
Do we have to attend the morning worship? Yes, it is a part of our learning experience. You can use this time to sit quietly and meditate on your own or participate as we worship God, you may learn something new out of these worships.
Can I quietly work on my laptop during worship? No. Let us learn to be respectful. You will turn on your laptop only after worship is over.

FIELD-TRIPWhat is the Museum fieldtrip? This is a private field trip that you can do on your own either with your family or your classmates. The school will not arrange the fieldtrip day, so you have to visit on your own preferably during weekends.
Which Museum should we go? There are so many of them? Visit any two museums that exhibits the history, culture, religion, politics, etc. on Thailand. These museums are known as National Museum, mostly found in Rattanakosin area (http://www.museumthailand.com).
What do I do for the Museum tour? First make sure you collect the brochures, entrance tickets, etc. Second, take photos or selfie of yourself or your group inside the Museum and post them in our LINE group. Third, after visiting and learning about Thailand from the Museum, write a 700 word essay on your experience on the Museum Trip.
What is the percentage for the Museum fieldtrip? Museum trip does not have a separate category but it will be included in the Test category, meaning, this trip will be considered as a Test. When you visit the museum, bring brochures, take selfie and write 700 word essay, you will be given a full score on this Museum Test.
When should we go for this Museum fieldtrip? You can visit anytime from now till July 1 (Sunday). Once you visit the Museum, collect the brochure, entrance ticket, take selfie, and write the 700 word essay. Then on July 4 (Wednesday) post your selfie in LINE group and bring both the printed Essay and the ticket or brochure and submit to your current teacher.
